Encaustic Equines

Weather and the sky are most dramatic in Santa Fe and people say that  if you don't like the weather here, wait 10 minutes, it is sure to change dramatically.  2019 was a tough winter in Santa Fe and it allowed me much time in the studio to create a new body of work based on my first 2.5 years living here. Mixed media photography of horses

I combined my portraits of the horses with cloud backgrounds for photo-based mixed media assemblages with encaustic wax medium that are available in sizes from 11" x 14" to 32" x 42".  Each one is unique as they are hand made.

The snow images of my own horses are combined with book pages from vintage horse themed books picked up from the Horse Shelter re-sale shop to support horse rescue while creating new art.  I donate finished pieces to their annual auction.

The assemblages are mounted on wood or canvas board and framed in locally resourced reused wood.  The images can also be purchased as unframed prints sized to order up to 72" wide.  Please contact me for details.
